IOWA STATE-PRODUCED WINES GARNER LOCAL, INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Wines produced at Iowa State recently were put to the test and brought home several top awards from international, regional and Iowa competitions. The 2022 vintages – La Crescent, Rosé and Marquette – were bottled in March 2023 in Iowa State’s Commercial Winery inside the Food Sciences Building on campus. More

COURSE HELPS ALUMNA'S ICE CREAM BUSINESS FLOURISH

Natalie (Eick) Paino ('20 ag business) is already seeing the benefits of participating in Annie's Project. The 18-hour farm business management course helped Paino expand upon what she learned in her Iowa State classes and has allowed her to become more involved with her family's dairy farm in northeast Iowa. That includes expanding her ice cream business, Hightail Delivery, to add dairy processing equipment to make her own ice cream and cheese curds. More

ALUMNA TAKING RESEARCH PROGRAM IN NEW DIRECTION

Lacey Luense ('07 MS genetics), assistant professor in the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Animal Science, spent the first 10 years of her career using live animal models to understand the mechanisms of the sperm epigenome and its role in human disease and development. Her latest work involves conducting research to determine how male behaviors and the environment affect offspring in livestock. More

Grant Hilbert ('20 agricultural business, economics) has gone from farming in the virtual world to farming in real life. Now, he is getting ready to launch a mobile farming game called American Farming. Developed with his company, SquadBuilt Inc., the game focuses on Midwestern farming styles and American equipment.
