Regan Kramer, junior in ag studies and international ag, spent her summer interning on a New Zealand dairy farm owned by Chad ('99 dairy science) and Jan Winke. Of particular use during her internship were the lessons learned in her dairy cattle science class. More

GREAT TURNOUT AT ANNUAL CALS ALUMNI BBQ

The annual CALS Alumni BBQ took place Sept. 2, at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center in Ames, prior to the start of the ISU vs. UNI football game. Approximately 350 alumni and friends of the college attended.

SMITH RECEIVES EMERGING IOWA LEADER AWARD

Martha Smith ('04 ag business, international ag), center, has significantly impacted agriculture throughout Iowa and the nation following her time at Iowa State. She was recognized for her efforts by being presented the CALS Emerging Iowa Leader Award during the annual CALS Alumni BBQ on Sept. 2. More

NEED FOR INNOVATION IN AGRICULTURE DISCUSSED

Al Tank ('81 animal science), presented the William K. Deal Endowed Leadership Lecture on Sept. 27, in Curtiss Hall on Iowa State's campus. Titled, "Innovating Ag Innovation," Tank encouraged those in attendance to "think around the corner" in anticipation of challenges that may be up ahead and consider how to use innovation to overcome those challenges. A recording of Tank's presentation will be posted in early October on the Deal Lecture webpage.

 

Young Alum of the Month

Jamie Schechinger ('20 agricultural studies) on any given day could be providing advice on wheat, helping solve disease issues in potatoes or collaborating on watermelon nutrition in her role as a sales agronomist with Yara North America.
